Blake Academy is now a Title I School!

What is Title I?

Title I is the largest federally funded assistance program for schools across the country.  The goal of the program is to help children be more successful in school and create active partnerships between school and home.

 

Title I schools can generally offer:

·         Added teachers and assistants

·         Extra training for school staff

·         A variety of teaching methods and materials

·         Counseling and mentoring

 

What does this mean for you, the parent?

                You are a super important part of our team!

·         Your continued involvement in your child’s education can boost their achievement.

·         You know your child best, so it is up to you to share information about your child’s talents and abilities with teachers and staff.

·         Speak up if you have suggestions on ways we can better help your child with their growth and learning.

 

Ways to model learning at home:

·         Set an example of good reading habits; let your child see you read newspapers, magazines, and books.

·         Ask your child to read to you.

·         Ask to see schoolwork/homework.

·         Make learning fun: word games, reading signs while in the store or while driving, and having your child help you prepare lists when grocery shopping are all ways to boost their confidence.
