LAW ENFORCEMENT CORNER

Hello Parents,

This month I would like to discuss the problem of students bringing valuable items to school. Please leave all valuable watches, jewelry, CD players, and other unnecessary items at home. A rule of thumb is do not have your child bring anything more valuable to school then he or she can afford to lose. If you want your child to have a watch, buy him an inexpensive watch to wear to school. Any item over $20 that is not used in class for instruction should be assessed. Please write your child’s name on his clothing with a magic marker. Engrave all CD players and electronics brought to school with your child’s name or social security number.

Please permanently mark all items brought to school, so that if they are lost or stolen they can be identified as belonging to your child. A luggage lock for your child’s back pack is a good idea. All bicycles brought to school should be locked with a bicycle lock.  We do not have student lockers at Blake Academy.

Write down the serial number and model number of all your child’s valuable items and file them at home. If the items are stolen and recovered by the police they have to positively identified. Doing these few simple steps will also make your child’s property less likely to be stolen. Let’s have a safe school year!

Thanks,
